BACKGROUND

  • Established in 1997 to promote the spirit of voluntarism and to create opportunities for Malaysians to get involved in volunteering activities in Malaysia and abroad
  • SALAM Malaysia, involved in humanitarian work and disaster relief, is a tax-exempt corporation under Section 44(6) of the Income Tax Act. This means that donations to SALAM Malaysia will allow donors to deduct their chargeable income from taxation. In this regard, SALAM Malaysia invites donors to come
    onboard to help achieve a win-win formula to provide funding for the needy in a wide range of assistance. As often mentioned, giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference and the smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intentio

SALAM believes that voluntarism work is an impactful and effective effort in helping the society undergoes their daily activities. Every human being in this world deserves to experience quality life, good environment, peace and equality. This is important as SALAM provides volunteers who are ready to serve the society and community in need.

Dato’ Mior Kamarul Baid Mior Shahid

Age 62, former Group Editor Berita Harian from July 2009 to Sep 2014. Associate Prof at Media Research Dept, Universiti Malaya from 2001 to 2009.

Datuk Yong Soo Heong

60, is currently the member of Supervisory Council of BERNAMA, a Malaysian national news agency. He has more than 40 years of journalistic experience.

Dr. Thelaha Haji Masri

A former associate professor and senior lecturer of UNIMAS, Dr Thelaha has vast experience in engineering fields with specification in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.

Ahmad Hasni Mohamed Jalilah

With over 20 years of experience in non-governmental organizations, project management, charity and disaster relief engagements, Mr Hasni is capable in handling various events and projects which aligned with SALAM’s vision and mission.
